New Segment! You’re a Jukebox Heroine – Blame It On The Girl

This is the first post, in the hope of many future posts highlighting independent, unknown, up and coming, DIY, local, and/or female artists and bands who get in touch with me here at Jukebox Heroines.

Our first featured band is “Blame It On The Girl” a female fronted Psychedelic/Progressive/New Wave band from Seattle, WA. The band is composed of 4 members: Linzi on Vocals, Ryan on Guitars, Ben on Drums, and “The Human” Chris on Bass.

The band is tight when it comes to form and function. You can feel the superb mash-up of influences from the The Hives, The Doors, to Primus. Linzi’s vocals remind me of a blending of Dolores O’Riordan’s  forceful tone with the sustain of Amy Lee. Her style compliments the grungy, driven mid-boosted guitars. I always love bands who take full advantage of the mid-range on the guitars. The drum work and bass grooves are excellently diverse.

By far, my favorite tracks from their website are “Gray” and “Small Man.” “Small Man” has such a catchy chorus! I have been singing it all morning.  “Cut your tongue out! Small man! Small Man!” “Gray” reminds me of just a good ol’ fashion rock your ass off song. The song builds over time and you cannot help but bobbing your head. Plus, it has a sweet, swift guitar break.

Overall, if you want to listen to some intense, rock music with creative flair, check out “Blame It On The Girl.” You won’t be disappointed!

Pick up their latest LP at Easy Street Records in Seattle or on iTunes.

Plus see them live!
